Founded in 2013, Baird Inc. is a family office focused on managing a diversified investment strategy specifically in secured and asset-based lending, private equity, and commercial real estate. Baird Inc. prides itself in its ability to execute quickly while developing an understanding of customers’ needs and desires to help creatively structure access to the capital required to alter their growth trajectory.

Private Equity

Baird Inc. also partners with small and mid-size businesses providing them with access to growth capital in exchange for equity in a founder’s business. For upstarts and smaller companies, a lack of collateralizable assets creates challenges in acquiring access to growth capital via secured debt through traditional financing, but an equity partnership aligns the interest of Baird Inc. and the companies we work with to create strategic partnerships.

Examples of our existing direct equity investments are as follows –

  • In 2017, Baird Inc. participated in the Series B equity raise in partnership with Altmed, which later merged with another industry leader to create Verano Holdings Corp. (VRNOF). Verano is a national, vertically integrated operator of licensed cannabis cultivation, manufacturing, and retail facilities dedicated to improving lives by providing safe access to effective organic cannabis products that enhance health and wellness and by positively impacting the communities it serves.
  • SAFE note in Spring Sports Nutrition whose mission is to provide athletes with healthy sports nutrition choices. Spring provides all natural, highest quality products designed based on scientific evidence and top athletes’ experience aimed to maximize athletic performance and maintain a healthy, balanced diet.
  • Three separate equity raises beginning in 2019 in partnership with Hiatus Tequila, LLC. Hiatus is an ultra-premium tequila brand dedicated to providing customers with their hand-crafted tequila distilled by a family-owned distillery in Jalisco, Mexico.

REAL ESTATE

Baird Inc. has a growing real estate portfolio located throughout the Southwest Florida area. We specialize in acquisition and operations across the gamut of commercial real estate, including – multifamily, office, retail, and marinas.

Examples of our existing real estate portfolio are as follows –

  • The Historic Kress Building in Downtown Sarasota, FL. The Kress now serves as the home base for Baird Inc. and other companies/retailers as an office building and storefront. It comprises of approximately 22,000 square feet of rentable space and currently has minimal space available in one of the most attractive destinations in Sarasota.
  • Tarpon Pointe Marina is a full-service marina and restaurant located in the heart of Bradenton, FL and directly on the Manatee River. In addition to the operational high and dry facility, the site sits on just over 11 acres in a T5 zoning designation which would allow for up to 2 million square feet of developable surface area which positions it as one of the most attractive real estate development opportunities on the west coast of Florida.
  • 1600 8th Street is a 14-unit condominium complex located minutes away from Downtown Sarasota in the historic Rosemary District. These units were completely renovated in late 2020, which creates a turnkey approach with respect to property management.

SECURED LENDING

Baird Inc. specializes in secured or asset-based lending whereby an individual or business owner can access the capital needed to serve as a catalyst for growth. We pride ourselves on the ability to execute quickly while understanding the needs of a borrower to creatively structure mutually beneficial lending terms.

Examples of our existing secured lending portfolio are as follows –

  • Senior position on multiple real estate assets which were owner financed by Baird, Inc. during sale while buyer improves occupancy and net operating income prior to re-financing with long-term agency debt.
  • Mezzanine debt to facilitate land acquisition on multiple 60-acre land parcels outside Atlanta, GA.
  • Junior position on commercial real estate portfolio used to re-finance entire portfolio and facilitate additional property acquisitions.
  • Senior position lien on helicopter, Sikorsky S-76, while necessary repairs are completed to secure long-term financing
